WING COMMANDERS "KAWARTHA CAPER"
Presented by
Have a little fun!
We put this event together in true Wing Commander Shiftright style!
The 100 mile route will emulate a reconnaissance mission over occupied France in the early days of the Second War.
We invite you to imagine yourself navigating over enemy territory on a secretive reconnaissance mission in your trusty but spindly and aged AVRO 504 fighter left over from the First War!
You will love the vistas, the overviews of lakes and forests, small villages, hamlets and twisting country roads all the while cognizant of the adrenaline-fueled uncertainty of encountering enemy fire or suffering mechanical failure!
The Mission
Fighter Crews will assemble at the mission departure point, the Kawartha Lakes Municipal Airport located on Highway 35 just north of Lindsay. Crews should check in no later than 10:30 hrs. to receive their orders and flight information. Plan to arrive by 09:30 hrs. and enjoy a delicious breakfast in the Airport Restaurant, a local favourite.
The squadron will begin its sortie at 11:00 hrs. Your flight plan includes a mid-flight stop at a secret French Resistance Air Field, behind enemy lines where you will enjoy lunch and great conversation with fellow air crews.
Carrying on, the refreshed crews will continue to explore the rich countryside and quaint villages of the Kawarthas before beginning the final leg and turning back toward friendly territory.
After completing your mission and the harrowing flight over enemy territory, you will have the opportunity to join your squadron mates at a comfortable pub to wind down over a pint and celebrate a successful mission .
Open to all classic cars any make, any year. Registration opens February 1st.
